SENSEI will develop devices and technologies to turn the global telecommunication fibre network into a pervasive distributed sensor and make the network more resilient and efficient.

Objectives
SENSEI has five major objectives:

Develop novel photonic sensing devices to measure fibre deformation with high sensitivity, high resolution and no interference with data traffic.

Carry out field tests in various scenarios across Europe, and develop ability to interpret collected data.

Develop an innovative network architecture equipped with intelligence, in which heterogeneous datasets are combined and collectively processed for interpretation and exploitation.

Demonstrate use-cases of this approach in relevant tasks, namely: quality of transmission supervision, alerting, seismic monitoring, scientific analysis.

Develop methods and best practices to make our datasets accessible and usable, reaching out to a broader community.
